Forty years ago, on the bustling streets of Karachi, a young man faced a harsh reality: the desperate search for urgent healthcare for his ailing father amidst unreliable resources. This personal struggle ignited a vision — to make healthcare accessible and affordable for all.

From humble beginnings in a two-bedroom rented apartment, Fidai Foundation was born, built on the values of compassion, dedication, and frugal innovation. With a few rupees in donations and a mission to make healthcare a fundamental right, Essa Lakhani and a small group of volunteers worked tirelessly to serve their community.

Today, Fidai Foundation has grown into a state-of-the-art medical facility, serving over half a million patients annually for less than half a dollar per visit. With three facilities offering emergency care, specialist consultations, and surgical services, a team of over 100 dedicated doctors and practitioners now provides treatment in a variety of specialties, including pediatrics, orthopedics, and eye care.
